Construct is powerful and easy to use development software for both DirectX 9-based games and applications. It includes an event based system for defining how the game or application will behave, in a visual, human-readable way - easy enough for complete beginners to get results quickly. Optionally, advanced users can also use Python scripting to code your creations.

Construct has a super fast hardware-accelerated display engine to ensure your games run smoothly, supporting alpha channeled graphics, V-sync, motion blur, 3D lighting effects (bumpmapping), HDR, distortion and lenses as well as 40+ other pixel shader effects. It also includes an innovative Behaviors system for defining how objects work in a flexible way, including a Physics engine for realistic collisions and motion.

Objects can be layered allowing for advanced effects and parallaxing, and individual layers can be zoomed in and out freely with high detail. The Debugger also allows you to play with the nuts and bolts and help identify problems. With over 60 plugins ranging from Tiled Backgrounds to various window controls, Construct's capabilities are ever-expanding thanks to the C++ Plugin SDK.

Construct is open source (under the GPL license) meaning anybody can contribute to or view the program's source code, and it is free to download. Construct's development is based on SourceForge.net, and is organised by Scirra (www.scirra.com).
